Our dedicated testers took a trip with the Retreat Caravan from Laverton to the Deep Well area, via the Old Laverton Road.

This is a popular and much-loved route, although the road has seen some wear and tear and is quite rough these days.

However, that didn’t deter us as it gave us the chance to fully test the drivability of the van on a very challenging dirt road and it handled the conditions beautifully!

The weather over the last few days has been really good.

The sun has been beating down but thankfully, it hasn’t been too hot during the day although the mornings have been quite nippy.

We are definitely making good use of our electric blankets!

The heaters have been performing well but the blankets just feel that little bit more snug and luxurious.

As the sun is low during the day at this time of year this means that there’s not much time to recover the battery charge.

Our testers reported that the battery reached almost 80 per cent, and they were getting about 850W solar gain at noon.

We have put the unit through some full-on tests with our engineers, and it passed all the tests with flying colours.

Of course, the offroad part of the journey is just one of the uses that the Retreat will be subjected to.

We still need to test sea and saltwater exposure next, and that will come with a trip along the Gibb River.

Make sure to check in for more updates as we out the van through its paces as we make our way through WA on our electric caravan journey.
